I use moi3D and there was no easy way to accomplish this type of edge. But, in Moment of Inspiration, all one has to do is slightly expand the bolt in the X/Y and use Booleon Diff to cut the nut threads using the bolt. Then return the bolt to the original dimensions.Tom Meekshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13580494966261788985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7059318635584644192.post-26751866798413826712015-06-27T09:42:24.948-07:002015-06-27T09:42:24.948-07:00Good day Tom,

How does one get the thread on the inside when making a nut in Cubify Design?

Any help would be great. And I agree that Cubify Invent needs to be friendlier. But, with some patience and experience it CAN be used quite effectively.

Invent is based on Alibre and that has been around, and successful, for a long time. So, I hope, and expect, that Invent will become more consumer friendly over the next few months.

I see my responsibility as learning the flow of the application to avoid the pitfalls that prevent accomplishing what we want to do.

I do, however, think Moment of Inspiration is far more intuitive and, for those that can afford it, a better design experience.Tom Meekshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13580494966261788985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7059318635584644192.post-74998518892883702942013-03-23T19:06:44.572-07:002013-03-23T19:06:44.572-07:00Cubify Invent is a very buggy piece of software an...Cubify Invent is a very buggy piece of software and needs a fixed update. I tried making internal threads with no success and have had reference lines and features disappear. A good price means very little if you can't use it!!! bobm123https://www.blogger.com/profile/15999893189487373241noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7059318635584644192.post-57680750345963677032012-12-28T13:17:40.356-08:002012-12-28T13:17:40.356-08:00Cubify Invent is a good product at a good price. ...Cubify Invent is a good product at a good price. But, it is NOT perfect and sometimes it drives me crazy when I hit a wall with little or no explanation. Your observation that "sometimes it works and sometimes not" is something that I've also experienced.

I'll try to chase down what is happening if I can duplicate it. Five days into using the trial software, repeatedly watching your tutorials, and I cannot put it down. You sir have taught an aged dog new tricks, thanks so very much.

I have been trying the Helix Cut on and off now for a day. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. All of the failures seem to be due to the reference line not being referenced or not staying in existence once I exit the sketch plain. Will continue to practice.

I have also been trying to get the Helix Cut to follow a curved spline reference line. No success yet.
Have you done this?Johnyachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06683646384563274354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7059318635584644192.post-23117650233913947762012-09-06T22:32:12.819-07:002012-09-06T22:32:12.819-07:00Now make the nut! :-)Now make the nut! :-)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14939815918866577614noreply@blogger.com
